The failier of our society

While the Government of the United Kingdom is supposed to be preserving the rights and liberties of the people, it has failed to ensure these are protected. We do not have to look far to see countries who look after their citizens.

Denmark has state controlled  healthcare, universities, childcare, a 33 hour work week and a minimum wage of £12.50.

In fact, the majority of Northern Europe and the Nordic country hold governments with compassion and care for their people, this is most likely due to no single party dominating the government.

Why then is the United Kingdom maintaining an archaic system of single party politics with 2 major parties? We need to evolve out political system to benefit the people, become more socialist and move away from a cooperate held society.

For a government to truly understand its people, the regions of England need to have their own devolved assemblies by having each MP representing their constituencies in these assemblies than in a national Parliament. By also lowing the number of MP's in Westminster, you have a chamber representing the people by population with representatives from each region of the UK and the 3 countries of the United Kingdom.

Separation of Powers also needs to become a major aspect of our political society. How can a Government Secretary perform their duties as a minister, as an MP and as a person looking after the constituents? The position of Prime Minister must be independently elected by the people and not by party politics. Have the PM select the government based on the abilities of a person, and not have them be those closest to the person running the government, in fact, the government ministers should not be politicians, but instead people independent of the political process and hold  positions as Administrators.

With devolved assemblies, each region and the 3 constituent countries will have the control on internal issues, where as the National Administrations (renamed from departments) will only oversee these devolved issues.
The National Oversight Executive (renamed from Cabinet Government) will maintain control of Defence, foreign affairs, areas of finance and other policies which mainly involve the entire country.
By having devolved region legislatures and executives you relive the stress of the national government to deal with the main issues for the country.

As for elections, Proportional Representation for all local assemblies and the national legislature, but this is only the first form of a true democratic regime.

In Denmark, they have what are called Consensus conferences, these are councils for the normal  people to voice their opinions and issues of concern in a local area. They are selected through sortation, much like a jury in a court is. This will give the people a stronger voice in local government.
Sortation councils should be established for both the Regional governments and the national one.

These are only the first few proposals I have to make this country a fairer society.
